Wednesday, March 11 (Day 01)
Our tour to Japan commences this morning when we assemble at the airport at curbside for baggage check-in procedures. We will depart Honolulu for Narita International Airport. A meal and a snack will be served on board the flight.

Thursday, March 12 (Day 02)
We’ll arrive Narita Airport in the afternoon and after completing entry and customs formalities, we’ll transfer to our hotel in Tokyo to spend the night. A dinner is planned for you this evening at the hotel.

Friday, March 13 (Day 03)
ShinkansenThis morning, we’ll walk over to the Ikebukuro Station to take a local train to Ueno Station, then board the shinkansen (bullet train) to Niigata, the largest city on the coast of the Japan Sea. Niigata is known throughout Japan for its high-quality rice and rice-related products, including fine quality sake. On arrival at Niigata Station, we’ll board our chartered motor coach and embark on a brief sightseeing tour of the city. Enjoy shopping at Niigata Furusato-Mura, a unique shopping complex offering a nice selection of local traditional food, snacks, and craft products. We’ll visit the Cave D’occi Winery, inspired by Napa California, producing genuine Japanese wine made with Cabernet grapes. We will spend the night in the city of Niigata. Dinner will be provided for you this evening at the hotel.

Saturday, March 14 (Day 04)
Enjoy the day at the Sake no Jin Festival, an annual sake fair attended by hundreds of sake producers from across Niigata Prefecture. The public can enjoy sampling over 500 types of sake from 90 brewers with some food items for purchase. This afternoon, we will travel to spend the night in the resort village of Yuzawa. Enjoy dinner and relax in the hot springs at our onsen resort this evening.

Sunday, March 15 (Day 05)
This morning, we will head for another new sake sampling experience at Ponshu Echigo Yuzawa Station. A section of the station is set aside to enjoy sake-themed art, tasting sake from all parts of Niigata, and eating foods made with sake. Visitors to this Ponshu-kan get to taste sake from the vending machines that offer over a 100 different types of sake. Pick your sake, insert the token, and wait for the sake to pour out in a small cup. We will stop by Kawabata Denen Plaza for lunch. There are a selection of restaurants and omiyage shops located in this complex as well as a beer factory. We’ll visit the Tsuchida Sake Brewery located in Gunma City. This brewery is known for their high quality sake such as Yamahai and Jyunmai Dai Ginjo. You may even want to try their unique sake ice cream. Dinner will be provided for you this evening.

Monday, March 16 (Day 06)
Kawagoe City 2We’ll continue on to visit Konnyaku Park, an interesting theme park located in Gunma prefecture featuring many varieties of konnyaku (a low-calorie, rubbery, block of jelly). On the second floor, observe the production process through large windows on a self-guided tour of the factory. Prepared in all shapes, flavors, and forms, we’ll enjoy samples of a wide variety of this product at the ‘konnyaku buffet’ in the shop. We’ll continue on to Kawagoe city in Saitama prefecture to enjoy a stroll through its historical townscape with clay-walled, warehouse styled buildings. We’ll continue on to visit Koedo Kurari, where you can taste over 35 types of sake from this prefecture. We will drive back to Tokyo to spend two nights. Dinner will be provided for you this evening at the hotel.

Tuesday, March 17 (Day 07)
Tokyo Sky TreeThis morning, we’ll visit Tokyo Sky Tree, the primary television and radio broadcast site for the Kanto region. Weather permitting, enjoy a panoramic view of the city and its surrounding areas from the observatory on the top featuring a spiral glass-covered sky walk. Enjoy strolling through the shops and restaurants featured in the Tokyo Sky Tree Town shopping complex. We will continue on our journey to Ryogoku Edo Noren, the old Ryogoku Station which has been transformed to a full-sized sumo-themed hall featuring souvenir shops and restaurants. Dinner will be on your own this evening.

Wednesday, March 18 (Day 08)
The morning is at your leisure for your own activities. In the afternoon, we’ll transfer to the Narita International Airport to check-in for our flight home to Honolulu, arriving in the morning on the same day due to the crossing of the International Date Line.

The tour price is based on double occupancy and a minimum group size of 20 passengers. Fare adjustment may apply for groups of 20 or under. The rate is based on tariffs and exchange rates effective 6/1/2019. Tour fare is subject to change according to any airfare increase and fluctuation of the rate 0of exchange between U.S. and foreign currency. In the event of revaluation, the land portion of the tour price may be adjusted prior to your final statement.
